Terrific Tennis

On Thursday 4th May a year 3 & 4 tennis team went to The Weald. They took part in a carousel of tennis activities which tested their skills. During each activity they earned points. They then played in a tennis tournament. Well done to all the players, you demonstrated some great tennis skills.

This Girl Can

On Wednesday 22nd March we took 3 teams to This Girl Can, at The Weald. This event focuses on promoting girls sport. The afternoon was full of matches in which all the girls were able to show off their skills and teamwork.

The netball team all played well and smiled all the way though and finished their games on a high.

The hockey team demonstrated great team work and as they progressed through their matches, their confidence and skills grew.

The football team defended brilliantly against bigger schools and also finished their matches on a high.

Overall the netball team finished 5th, the hockey team 1st and the football team 3rd.

Well done to all those who played.

Merry Christmas

It has been a lovely final week of term at Plaistow and Kirdford . We finished the term with our PAKSA Awards Assembly, together with songs from KS 2, KS 1 and a short entertainment from the staff team! We then had a very special visit from Father Christmas who gave all the children a gift. Merry Christmas from us all at Plaistow and Kirdford Primary School and our very best wishes for 2023.

Sports Day

Today we held our first proper Sports Day for 3 years and it was brilliant. After all the races, we held our Jubilee Celebrations with The National Anthem, Country Dancing and Staff Horse Race! Thank you to all our amazing children and families for making it such a special day.

They have hatched!

Hello Plaistow and Kirdford School, we have finally hatched! We are very excited to meet everyone and we know that the children are very excited to meet us! There are six of use and we are already keen to get out and explore the world. We are living in a smaller run, at the front of the chicken pen. Please pop by to say hello.

Chickens

The chickens have been enjoying the warmer weather over Easter. This week we have discovered that one of the chickens, known as Zebra, has started sitting on the eggs. We are hoping that she will continue to sit on the 12 eggs and they will hatch. If the eggs do hatch, we will have some chicks before half term.

This Girl Can

On Wednesday 23rd March our Year 5&6 football and hockey team attended a This Girl Can event at The Weald. The afternoon was focused on promoting girls and their skills in sport. Both teams played brilliantly and demonstrated good skills. They worked fantastically as a team and were not only supportive of each other but also of other schools. Both teams achieved second place. Congratulations to all the players, we are really proud of you.

Fantastic Football

On Wednesday 16th March, the Year 5 football team took part in a tournament at The Weald. The played really well, winning their first two matches. It was lovely to see all the children demonstrating teamwork and good sportsmanship skills. They finished 4th out of 7 teams. Congratulations to all the players.

A little bit of mud!

Cross country club love a bit of mud but this week it was extra muddy! Not even Miss Hall could avoid it!

Ground's Day

Today we held our first Ground’s Day at school for over 2 years. All our children got involved with helping to tidy our grounds and plant bulbs and plants for the Spring. A massive thank you to Mrs Jesse and her amazing team of parent volunteers who have worked tirelessly in our Environmental Area and also to another of our families who have very donated the use of a skip. We can’t wait to see our Environmental area in full use again this Spring.

Our First Whole School Assembly since 20th March 2020

Tuesday 1st March was a very special day for us all at Plaistow and Kirdford Primary School. It was our first day back at school after Half Term and for the first time since 20th March 2020, our whole school were finally able to come together in the school hall for assembly. This was also the first time our Robin and Squirrel Classes had ever attended a full school assembly in the hall and we were really proud of how settled they were. Not only that, but Mr King told us all about Shrove Tuesday and Lent and then cooked some pancakes!
