Year 1 - Squirrel
Welcome to Squirrel Class!
In year 1 the children continue to learn through play, exploration and discovery. Alongside this, they are gradually introduced to more structured learning, with adult led activities focusing on maths, English and science lessons. We continue to have daily phonics and play lots of games to weave their learning into everything we do.
We promote independence, good manners, kindness and a love for learning. We encourage the children to use their imagination and creativity to express and share their ideas with others.
Our three topics for the year are Childhood, Bright Lights - Big City and School Days.
The children have Forest School every week and really enjoy being in the outdoors. Over time they increase their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being.
