Library Home/ School Agreement
We are very proud of our library at Plaistow and Kirdford Primary School. It is ideally situated in the heart of the school and one of the benefits is that children are able to borrow books and take them home. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to explore new and exciting books, which they can read at leisure at home.
Each week, children will have two opportunities to use the library. One session will be used for them to choose one new book to take home. The following week, they will either return their book and choose a new one or renew it. Children will have increasing independence in selecting their library books. While this will be guided to some extent by the class teacher, your child may bring home a book which is not necessarily matched to their reading ability, but has appealed to them. Plastic folders will be provided for the library books to be transported in to and from school. If a book has been forgotten, a reminder will be issued; children will then be able to borrow a new one the following week when the book has been returned.
The colour banded and free reader book schemes will continue as normal. Once your child has moved through the colour banded scheme and becomes a ‘free reader’ it is perfectly possible that, provided permission has been given by the class teacher, your child’s library book could replace their free reader book for that week.
In order for the whole school to benefit from this fantastic resource, we ask that you review the Library Home / School Agreement below.
