This Girl Can

This week we took two teams to This Girl Can at The Weald. Initially we were going to have one team playing netball and the second team playing football, however due to fewer teams being able to attend than hoped, both of our teams took part in a mini football tournament and then a mini netball tournament.

We are so proud of all the players as they pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and played brilliantly.

Our pink team won the football tournament and our green team won the netball tournament.

Football

This week a team of Year 5’s and 6’s attended The Weald for a football tournament. All the players played well and demonstrated good skills and teamwork. We won two matches, drew two and lost two. Over all we came in 6th place.

Well done to all the players.

Hockey Success

On Monday 9th December we took two teams to The Weald to take part in a quick sticks hockey tournament. They were quickly nicknamed The Lions and The Tigers. Both teams played brilliantly winning all their games against other schools. The decider then came when The Lions had to play The Tigers. It was a hard fought match and in the end the Tigers cam out on top.

Overall The lions came second and The Tigers came first.

Well done to all our players. We are really proud of you.

Girls Football - Round 1

On Friday 8th November our girls football team took part in the first round of the Horsham District Girls Football Tournament. They played brilliantly as a team and won three of their matches, lost one and drew one. Well done to all of our players. We look forward to watching you play in round 2!

X-Country

On Wednesday our x-country team went off to Billingshurst to take part in some x-country races.

Year 3&4 ran first with three of our girls taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in that race.

Next the Year 5 girls ran and earned 158 points for their team. Overall they came 4th. Then it was the turn of the Year 5 boys where everyone finished in the top 15 places. This earned them 47 points and the team came first out of all the schools.

The year 6 girls ran next and earned 104 points for the team placing them in 4th place. The year 6 boys also earned 104 points and came second our of all the schools.

Well done to all our runners. You all showed great determination and team spirit. We are very proud of all of you. Thank you to everyone who helped with transport and supported our teams.

Sports Day

What a lovely day!

We kick off sports day with a carousel of activities which allowed everyone to earn lots of lovely housepoints for their team. After a quick play we then moved on to the relay races. It was a lovely atmosphere at lunchtime with a picnic and playing on the field and then straight into the flat races and the Year 5 & 6 long distance races.

Well done to all the children and congratulations Wey house for winning the house point trophy for the day.

Through to the Final!

On Monday our Hockey team went to East Grinstead Hockey Club to take part in the county finals. This is the first time that we have made it though to the finals and it was very exciting. Our team faced 10 other schools and fought hard in each match. They demonstrated good skills, great determination, sportsmanship and teamwork - we are really proud of them all.

Amazing Hockey

On 11th December we took two hockey teams to a tournament at The Weald. Both teams demonstrated good skills, determination and teamwork. Out of 7 teams our Year 5 team came 4th and our Year 6 team came won the tournament. Well done to all our players, we are very proud of you and a big thank you to our hockey coach.

X-Country

On Thursday 9th November Miss Hall and Miss Dore had the pleasure of taking children from KS2 to a x-country event at The Weald. The sun came out and although the ground was very wet and muddy it did not deter the children from running and enjoying themselves. It was lovely see so many children take part in this event and to see the support that they gave each. Miss Hall and Miss Dore are very proud of all the runners and would like to thank all the parents for helping with transport and cheering the teams on.

The Year 3&4 team got a total of 108 points, Year 5 team got 154 points and the Year 6 team got 113 points.

Sports Day

On Friday we held our sports day. Despite the heat, everyone did brilliantly and got lots of house points. Congratulations to Wey, who won the day! Thank you to everyone for participating and supporting the day.

Terrific Tennis

On Thursday 4th May a year 3 & 4 tennis team went to The Weald. They took part in a carousel of tennis activities which tested their skills. During each activity they earned points. They then played in a tennis tournament. Well done to all the players, you demonstrated some great tennis skills.

This Girl Can

On Wednesday 22nd March we took 3 teams to This Girl Can, at The Weald. This event focuses on promoting girls sport. The afternoon was full of matches in which all the girls were able to show off their skills and teamwork.

The netball team all played well and smiled all the way though and finished their games on a high.

The hockey team demonstrated great team work and as they progressed through their matches, their confidence and skills grew.

The football team defended brilliantly against bigger schools and also finished their matches on a high.

Overall the netball team finished 5th, the hockey team 1st and the football team 3rd.
